Louis Williams Injury: Updates on Raptors Guard’s Ankle and Return

February 21st, 2015 by Joseph Zucker Leave a reply »

The Toronto Raptors announced that backup point guard Lou Williams has a sprained right ankle and won't play on Saturday night against the Houston Rockets.

Williams has provided plenty of scoring off the bench for the Raptors this year. He's averaging 15.4 points in 24.6 minutes a night, which equates to 22.5 points per 36 minutes—a career high for Williams—according to Basketball-Reference.com.

One look at his game log illustrates how volatile Williams' offense can be on a nightly basis, but when he's on, he's a major asset for Toronto. He's registered over twice as many 25-point performances as the next-closest bench player, per ESPN Stats & Info:

Since it's a sprained ankle and not a more serious issue, Williams shouldn't miss a significant amount of games.

That will be important for the Raptors as they hope to hold on to a top-four spot in the Eastern Conference. The team is 4.5 games ahead of the Washington Wizards entering Saturday.
