The NBA's free agency game seems to be finally winding down after an eventful couple of months. With all of the big names already in place, it seems that the only way any team is going to make a splash at this point is going to be through a trade. Trades at this time of year don't normally carry the same magnitude as the ones that happen at the trading deadline, but it is often a better idea to grab a player now so that they can go through training camp to get familiar with the team. Deciding who is going to get traded and where they are going to go is often a difficult thing to do. Players can be traded for a wide variety of reasons, and as we have seen in the past couple of years, often for less than market value. Teams have become more economically conscious, which means that they are often more inclined to move a star player in a pure salary dump if they cannot contend for the playoffs this season. Recent history has shown us that players like Pau Gasol, Antawn Jamison, Ray Allen, and many others have been moved because their teams are attempting to cut salary for the next season.
