Portland Trail Blazers Select Rich Cho as General Manager

The Portland Trail Blazers have finally announced who their new general manager is: Rich Cho!

Cho beat out strong candidates Danny Ferry and Randy Pfund for the job.

Nate McMillan described Cho as the most sought-after NBA executive for the last few years.

By getting the job, Cho also becomes the first Asian-American hired as a general manager in the NBA.

Cho certainly seems qualified for this job, as he has been the assistant GM for the Oklahoma City Thunder/Seattle SuperSonics for the past nine years.

As an assistant GM for the OKC Thunder, he handled trades, salary cap, and Collective Bargaining Agreement issues and also worked contract negotiations.

He seems to be a good choice for the job and he said that he will not think of making any major roster changes until he meets with the coach and scouts to discuss what they think is needed in the roster.

He also acknowledged that the Trail Blazers are still one or two moves away from being title contenders, and he thinks he can use the Blazers' depth to get that piece or two to make them contenders.
