But those days are over for Shelley and the Rangers as Bob McKenzie of TSN has reported that the 34-year-old has signed a three-year deal worth $3.3 million to play for the Philadelphia Flyers.
There were rumors that the Rangers would target Derek Boogaard of Minnesota Wild to make up for losing Shelley, but that no longer appears to be the case according to Andrew Gross of the Bergin Record .
The Rangers also have Brandon Prust who can act as their team’s enforcer so they don’t necessarily have to sign one.
