The Orlando Magic‘s long search for a new head coach seems to have come to an end, as Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel is reporting that the Magic have hired former NBA point guard Jacque Vaughn.

Vaughn played 12 seasons in the NBA for the Utah Jazz, Atlanta Hawks, New Jersey Nets, San Antonio Spurs and Magic. Vaughn has served as an assistant for the Spurs under Gregg Popovich since 2010.

Vaughn will succeed Stan Van Gundy and will be charged with the task of perhaps trying to convince star center Dwight Howard to remain in Orlando.
