Zach Parise is one of the most coveted free agents on the market, but legendary goaltender Martin Brodeur’s return to the New Jersey Devils will ensure that the winger also stays put.

Brodeur re-signed with the Devils for two more years on a contract worth $9 million, as noted by ESPN’s Pierre LeBrun.

Now, the Devils will turn their full attention to retaining Parise. Even Brodeur is helping out their cause, as TSN’s Mark Masters reported via Twitter.

Parise on Brodeur: 'We've definitely been in contact'

— Mark Masters (@markhmasters) July 2, 2012 Parise is a 27-year-old left winger who scored 69 points for the Devils this past season on 31 goals and 38 assists. His most productive season came in 2008-2009 when he was the fifth most productive offensive player in hockey, with 94 points on 45 goals and 49 assists.

He is a talented player who has been the team's captain since 2011, and was instrumental in the Devils’ recent run to the Stanley Cup Playoffs. If the team hopes to repeat its success from this past year, they will need to re-sign Parise.
