Minnesota Wild left winger Zach Parise is expected to miss at least the next two-to-three weeks after being diagnosed with a foot contusion suffered in the first period of Monday night's 3-0 loss to the St. Louis Blues, the team announced on Tuesday.
Parise was injured while blocking an Alexander Steen slap shot. He stayed in for the remainder of the first period and part of the second before leaving to go get checked out. He exited following a stoppage late in the second period, having already been on the ice for 11:02.
Although Parise tried battling through the pain, it was obvious that his abilities were limited by the foot injury. He was seen wincing during stoppages and struggled to cut with the same quickness and force that makes him one of the league's most formidable wingers.
After leaving the ice, Parise underwent an initial examination by team doctors. He then underwent further testing on Tuesday, which revealed better-than-expected news.
