What the Hell is This About the New York Rangers in 3-D?

It was announced this week that next week’s Rangers-Islanders game on March 24 will be broadcast in 3-D.

My first thought was that they would just be showing us an episode from Home Improvement circa 1994 and hope that the Rangers are so bad that we wouldn’t mind. It turned out to be something else though.

Apparently there are new HD televisions that broadcast a special kind of 3-D technology different from what we saw on Home Improvement years ago.

Unfortunately, this means most of us will not get to see how badly, or I suppose how good, this turns out.

It doesn’t seem like this was even an idea that the NHL came up with, the glowing puck reigns supreme. This is an entirely new thing that TV execs think will catch on and that next week’s Rangers game is going to be the first test run during a live event.

I guess that is one benefit of rooting for a team whose owner also owns a shitty cable company.
