Washington Capitals Look To Take Positives from Saturday’s Loss into New York

The Washington Capitals head to Manhattan on Sunday December 12 for a game against the New York Rangers. The Capitals will take to Madison Square Garden’s ice looking to end a five-game losing streak. The five game skid is the longest the team has faced under current head coach Bruce Boudreau.

Boudreau was awarded the Capitals head coaching position after his predecessor, Glen Hanlon lost five games in a row in November 2007.

The Capitals last six-game losing streak took place in March 2007.

On Saturday night, Washington fell to the Colorado Avalanche by a score of 3-2. After the game, Coach Boudreau noted that the team’s performance was much improved over their previous loss on Thursday to the Florida Panthers.

“That looked more like our team tonight,” Boudreau said after the game. “When things aren’t going well, that’s what happens. It’s on the upswing. It’s not on the downswing. If we have an effort like that tomorrow, we might get rewarded for it.”
