I guess signing Aaron Rome to a new contract is good from a depth position, but is he really in the mix for a number six man, and what does that say about the ‘Nucks defense?

Interesting that Montreal chose Jaroslav Halak over Carey Price after the performance Halak displayed during the playoffs.

Rumours are that they would not have been able to afford him and at least got something back from St. Louis, who looks like they will show Halak the money and more, over Chris Mason’s (UFA) $3M from last season.

Willie Mitchell today has come out in the media and says he is finally healthy enough and has done some light training. Problem here is that he will not get into the on-ice part until the middle of July, and with free agency coming up on July 1st , how do the ‘Nucks make a decision?

Mitchell stated that he would like to stay with the team and GM Mike Gillis has stated that they are interested, but at what price and for how long?

Surely the contract would have to be for no more than one year with bonus laden terms like games played and plus/minus stats.
