Unlucky Rolston Set To Miss 4-6 Weeks But Injury Offers Devils Needed Cap Relief

Brian Rolston has mostly been a very dependable and durable player during his 16-year NHL career.  The New Jersey Devils' winger suffered a sports hernia and is set to miss 4-6 weeks. 

Rolston was looking towards recapturing the play of his youth as scouts around the league felt that he would have a return to form this season after an impressive preseason.  Many have called into question the wisdom of Devils' general manager Lou Lamoriello's decision to give Rolston a four-year contract at $5 million per year in the summer of 2008.  Few remember that many teams around the league were vying for his services as a free agent that summer.

When you watch Rolston play it's obvious why he was so highly coveted as a free agent.  Few in the league possess as hard of a shot as the 37 year-old forward.  He was a valuable member on the power play for Minnesota as he shifted the puck around and waited for his chance to fire a blast from the point.
