Trent Whitfield Recalled, Byron Bitz Still a Question Mark For Saturday

Just as the Bruins fight their way back from injuries and had Milan Lucic return to their lineup on Thursday night, Marc Savard [knee] is the latest victim of the injury plague.

Lucic looked a bit rusty [minus-2, zero shots] having not played since Nov. 25, 2009, especially logging 16:31 of ice time on Thursday, but did register five hits.

It was speculated that Bitz was a healthy scratch to make room for No. 17, who has played in just 11 games this season [2-3-5 totals on the season].

"This was not about evaluating Looch. Said head coach Claude Julien during Thursday night's post-game press conference. "This was about him being ready to play and our doctors gave him the green light this afternoon and with Bitzy who’s battling a back injury as well, it was the right time to put him in. So we did that and obviously we got to give him some time to find his game again. He’s only got I think ten games this year."

Bitz, who has played in 38 games for the Bruins this season, has been paired every which way—from the first line to the fourth line. No. 61 has recorded a scoring line of 4-5-9 and a minus-4 thus far while averaging 11:30 ...
