Toronto Maple Leafs: Would The Bruins Trade Our Pick? Hey, We’ll Take It Back

Mark Spector of Rogers Sportsnet reported that Boston Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli would consider trading the Leafs' first-round pick they acquired in the Phil Kessel deal.

Well, if that is indeed true, then Brian Burke should consider reacquiring that pick.

It's interesting to note that this news breaks after the Leafs start to climb out of the bottom five of the league. If the Leafs were to get the pick back, there are two scenarios that could open up.

If we continue to move up the standings and get closer to the playoffs, then we get a mid-range pick. That way, Burke can at least appease the fans who are angry at him for trading the two first-round picks to get Kessel. If we fall back into the lottery, then we can pick one of the top prospects in the draft.

The Leafs might want to reacquire the pick just to keep another team from getting a hold of it. If the Leafs were to fall back into the lottery and a team like Ottawa or Edmonton were to trade for the pick, then they would have two picks within the first five picks.
