Toronto Maple Leafs: Who Is Wayne Simmonds and Why Do They Want Him?

Brian Burke's two-year anniversary as the General Manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs was only a couple of days ago.  He openly admitted that his "plan" hasn't panned out and that the Leafs aren't close to where he wants them to be.

There is no doubt that Burke would love to address his need of a top six forward as soon as possible.  At present time the Leafs sit 13th in the Eastern Conference. 

The good news is that they have scored more goals that the "high powered" New Jersey Devils and the young New York Islanders.  That being said, most of the offense is coming from only a couple of players. 

With 51 team goals through 23 games, the Leafs do need help. 

Brian Burke doesn't want a softer top six forward who can't take the body or get to the net, he wants a physical forward with a lot of scoring potential. 

The media often describes certain players as prototypical "Brian Burke players."  Wayne Simmonds is one of those players.
