NHL Players first took part in the Olympics in 1998. Since that time, there has certainly been an increased level of competition for hockey supremacy on the grandest of all international stages. While NHL Players have only been allowed to compete in the Olympics since 1998, there have been several Leafs players in the Games prior to 1998, who made the jump from amateur to professional play because of them. Trevor Kidd and Alexander Mogilny to name a couple. For the purpose of this ranking however, I will focus only on those who were NHL players at the time they represented their country during the Winter Olympics. While the Toronto Maple Leafs may be far from NHL Hockey supremacy, the has been no shortage of Olympians coming from one of the sports most storied franchises. The Toronto Maple Leafs are sending three players to the games this year, and it could have been more. Mikeal Grabovski and Mike Komiserik both out with injuries would have represented their perspective countries, and recently departed Niklas Hagman is in fact representing team Finland this year.
