The Toronto Maple Leafs have at least one thing to be thankful for coming off a shootout loss to the Philadelphia Flyers on Friday night.
After reworking some of the Leafs lines, coach Ron Wilson took Nikolai Kulemin off the top unit and replaced him with Kris Versteeg.
"Our next game, I'm going to put Versteeg with Bozak and Kessel, and Grabo with Kulemin and Clark MacArthur," Wilson told the Toronto Star. "The way I see it in camp so far, that will be our top two lines to start the season."
After a slow start, the Leafs new first line unit appeared to form a cohesive trio up front. The line received many chances up front and played well together on the power play, with Versteeg getting in on both goals with the man advantage.
With the Leafs first two lines apparently set going into the season, it remains to be seen what changes will occur. After all, it was Wilson who said last week that Kadri would most likely be centering a second line of Versteeg and Colby Armstrong to start the season.
