Tomas Kaberle Stays a Toronto Maple Leaf

Thus the biggest non-story, story of the NHL offseason has concluded, Tomas Kaberle remains a Toronto Maple Leaf.

After months of speculation and an enormous amount of ink, broadcast time and fan response, Brian Burke didn't end up trading his longest serving Leaf.  Rumours ran rampant, from which teams were the best fit to what combination of players, prospects and draft picks could be coming back. 

Most hockey columnists seemed to view it as a done deal; it was only a matter of time. 

But Burke continued to surprise the hockey world and went against what many thought was just posturing; feeding the media to try and provoke a better offer.  The articles and comments didn't suggest that he would follow through on keeping Kaberle if the right deal didn't present itself.

So does this mean Burke is finished for the offseason?  Is this the finished product that he will be giving over to Ron Wilson for training camp? With eight NHL ready defenseman, what does this mean for playing time?  Or does this mean that another defenseman will be moved, or simply shuffled down to the minors?
