Tomas Kaberle Remains a Toronto Maple Leaf

The words of William Faulkner seem perfectly suited to describe all the talk that surrounded Tomas Kaberle, Brian Burke, and the Toronto Maple Leafs over the past few weeks.

The window on Kaberle's No Trade Clause closed at midnight and he remains a member of the Toronto hockey club.

On Sunday morning, Leafs GM Brian Burke sent a clear message to the other NHL teams: if you want Kaberle, you had better step up the offers. Burke stated, "If these offers are all we get...he's staying put."

Burke was looking for "a forward with size and scoring ability if possible, and if not, we've been offered a couple of what I would call future packages, which include a high draft pick and a quality young player, and we haven't ruled out doing one of those types of deals. We're trying to get better right away. That's our first goal, our first focus, and our priority."

Many rumors surfaced during the last few weeks in regard to Kaberle's destination.  To recount all of the rumors here would be silly, suffice it to say at one point or another he was mentioned as moving to almost every NH ...
