Tom Renney Goes John Tortorella at Postgame Presser After Loss to Sharks

The usually calm, cool and collected Edmonton Oilers Coach, Tom Renney lost his cool Monday night after the Oilers lost to the San Jose Sharks 3-2. 

Covering the New York Rangers during Renney's tenure here in the Big Apple and participating in many of his postgame press conferences, it was quite shocking to see Renney so outwardly upset. In fact, he looked more like current Rangers coach, John Tortorella than himself on Monday. 

The Oilers are currently 29th in the league and Renney had enough.

Jim Matheson of the National Post details the tirade well.

“We have a few people who should look in the mirror. You’re Edmonton Oilers … you’re a millionaire. Suck it up and play hockey,” said Renney.

“These guys had the day off (Sunday). I was at a funeral,” Renney said.

“So you’re saying you had passengers?” somebody asked.

“Exactly,” said Renney. “If you’re going to fall, fall forward … lose going after it.”
