A nightmare start to the 2013-14 NHL season just got even worse for Florida Panthers veteran goalie Tim Thomas, who was forced to leave Tuesday's game against the Philadelphia Flyers with an injury.
The Panthers, per the team's official Twitter feed, have designated it as a "lower body injury":
Tim Thomas left in the first with a lower body injury, not expected to return tonight. #FlaPanthers #Flyers

ESPN's Katie Strang speculated on how Thomas may have hurt himself:
Tim Thomas has still not returned to the bench. Assuming he suffered injury while trying to dive back into position before 2nd goal
