The Ottawa Senators Are Competitive, but They’re Not Elite

Listen, it's not up to me to decide how people cheer for this hockey team. If you want to pick apart the roster after a one-goal road loss, well then, that's your prerogative. As a fan, you have the right to say all the negative things you like about this team. But some fans in the Ottawa area need to step back and look at the reality of the situation. The Ottawa Senators are not an elite team. They are going to battle for every point they get this season, and when it comes down to it, they will compete for a playoff spot.

There are always going to be lulls in an 82-game schedule. The team is in a bit of slump the last 10 to 15 games, but injuries have had a lot to do with that. Getting No. 1 goalie Pascal Leclaire back in the next week or so will definitely help.

Perhaps it would help Sens fans to look at a hockey team other than the Ottawa Senators once in a while. In a league with so much parity, ANY team can win on any given night. That's just the reality of a salary cap NHL.
