The Chicago Blackhawks Win Stanley Cup, Savor the Moment

As a big-time Chicago sports fan, the Blackhawks' victory in the Stanley Cup Finals was a sweet one. It was great to see a team that hasn’t won a championship for decades finally get to the top of the hockey world. My hats off to the Blackhawks, their managers, and their owners.

The city of Chicago has a proud sports history with many sports traditions. We have the Cubs, the darlings of the Chicago baseball world that are the only team remaining (in major Chicago sports) not to win a championship, and hopes are high that someday they will be able to bring home the World Series trophy. The White Sox accomplished that feat in 2005, giving fans a taste of what it’s like to be on top of the baseball world.

The Chicago Bears' last championship was in 1985 (they did make it to the Super Bowl in 2006, but were beaten by the Indianapolis Colts), and hopes are high that with the kind of talent they have acquired, their long championship drought will soon be over.

The Chicago Rush have also won a championship (in 2006), so the drought there hasn’t been that long.
