Tampa Bay Lightning Re-Sign Teddy Purcell, Add B.J. Crombeen

I wonder if Tampa Bay Lightning general manager Steve Yzerman ever sleeps.

The offseason is a time for players to recover from the previous season and recharge for the upcoming season. Players take the time off to be with family, golf, travel or simply relax. That must not be the case for the front office.

Early Tuesday, Tampa Bay re-signed right-winger Teddy Purcell to a three-year deal that will lock him up through the 2015-16 season. Financial terms were not disclosed. 

Purcell was entering the final season of a two-year deal and would have been an unrestricted free agent in 2013.

The 26-year-old set career highs in goals (24), assists (41) and points (65) last season. He was one of a few consistent fixtures in the Bolts lineup, playing in 81 of 82 games.

Purcell has 126 points in 181 career games with the Bolts and could be finding his stride as a top-six forward. 

And Yzerman wasn't done dealing for the day.

Hours later, the Lightning announced they acquired hard-nosed forward B.J. Crombeen from St. Louis.
