Mike Fisher scored on a rebound at the 11:15 mark of triple overtime, and the Predators won the longest game in their history, 4-3, and tied the series with the San Jose Sharks at two games each.
The Sharks held a 3-2 lead late in the third period, but James Neal tied it for Nashville to force extra time. It took more than two-and-a-half extra periods before Fisher got control of the puck and slid it by San Jose goalie Martin Jones.
Game 5 will be played in San Jose on Saturday night.
The game turned into an epic goaltending duel between Pekka Rinne of the Predators and Jones. Rinne made several point-blank saves during the overtime periods, while Jones stopped a breakaway by Colin Wilson minutes before Fisher scored his game-winner.
Rinne had 44 saves, while Jones had 41 for the Sharks. Fisher and Brent Burns of the Sharks each had two goals, but it was Fisher's late strike that squared the series and gave Nashville their first home playoff overtime victory.
