Conor Sheary's goal at 2:35 of overtime gave the Pittsburgh Penguins a 2-0 lead in the 2016 Stanley Cup Final over the San Jose Sharks.
The Penguins won Game 2 by a score of 2-1—a score that made the game seem, perhaps, closer than it was.
Like in Game 1, Pittsburgh controlled the game from the opening faceoff. On Wednesday, the Penguins didn't take the lead in the game until the 8:20 mark of the second period, when Phil Kessel tipped home a shot by Nick Bonino after a San Jose turnover.
The Sharks forced overtime when Justin Braun tied the game with 4:05 to play in regulation, but Conor Sheary finished the job for the home team after converting a set play that was laid out by Sidney Crosby, giving the Penguins a stranglehold on the series.
Shots on goal were 30-22 for Pittsburgh over the course of the game. Sheary's shot was the only one needed to beat Martin Jones in the extra frame.
The series now shifts to the Bay Area, where the Sharks will host Game 3 on Friday.
