Pittsburgh 3, San Jose 2 (Pittsburgh leads series 1-0)
Nick Bonino's game-winner with 2:33 remaining in regulation handed the Pittsburgh Penguins a 1-0 series lead in the Stanley Cup Final over the San Jose Sharks on Monday.
Bonino received a pass from Kris Letang near the left side of the net and proceeded to hit a shot over the shoulder of San Jose goalie Martin Jones to send the fans at Consol Energy Center home happy.
Pittsburgh jumped out to a two-goal advantage in the first period by way of tallies from Bryan Rust and Conor Sheary, but the Penguins were unable to take advantage of all of their first-period opportunities due to terrific shot-blocking by the Sharks.
San Jose responded in the second with two goals of its own. Tomas Hertl scored San Jose's first-ever Stanley Cup Final goal on the power play three minutes, eight seconds into the second stanza, and Patrick Marleau leveled the contest near the end of the period.
