Sharks Rookie Goalie’s Win in NHL Debut Brings Father to Tears

The Grosenick family will never forget Nov. 16, 2014.

San Jose Sharks rookie goalie Troy Grosenick made his NHL debut against the Carolina Hurricanes on Sunday. It turned out to be a debut so good that it brought his father to tears.

Grosenick—who San Jose called up from the AHL on Wednesday—made 45 saves in his first career game, leading the Sharks to a 2-0 victory.

Per The Associated Press, Grosenick became just the 22nd goalie in NHL history to record a shutout in his first start.

Seeing his son accomplish something that he worked so hard for had to make the elder Grosenick one proud papa. It was easy to tell just how much the debut meant to the family just by looking at everyone's reactions.
