Senators’ Andrew ‘The Hamburglar’ Hammond Receives Free McDonald’s for Life

It seems odd to think it took until just recently for "The Hamburglar" to have access to all the hamburgers he could ever want.

Ottawa Senators goalie Andrew Hammond, best known for his Hamburglar nickname, has just received free McDonald's food for life.

The 27-year-old even has the beloved McDonald's character on the side of his goalie mask:



After Sunday's 2-1 shootout victory over the Philadelphia Flyers, a fan threw a hamburger on the ice. Hammond scooped the burger up and saluted the crowd with it:



In case you were wondering, Hammond did not actually eat the hamburger, because it was "cold."

That turned out to be a bit of a life-changing moment. McDonald's took notice of The Hamburglar's actions and decided to give the rookie goaltender free food for life, according to Don Brennan of the Ottawa Sun:
