Sami Salo Injury: Bieska Off The Market For Caps?

Over a month ago, Canucks defenseman Sami Salo tore his Achilles' Tendon. The injury may have occured a long time ago, but it still has its repercussions, and not just for the Canucks. The injury could affect the trade market, as well.

Rumour was that the Capitals were looking to trade Tomas Fleischmann, possibly for a defenseman. One defenseman in particular was Kevin Bieska, but rumours also circulated around Vancouver that they were looking to move Bieska.

All this talk may be just air, especially since Salo's injury. The Canucks may need Bieska more than they originally thought. Vancouver is now down a defenseman with Salo out and Willie Mitchell gone to Los Angeles

The Capitals, whom were reported showing interest in Bieska, now may have to look elsewhere, due to the Canucks necessity. Instead of shipping Bieska, the Canucks may be forced to keep him around for at least another season.

Two of the top free agent blue-liners, Tomas Kaberle and Willie Mitchell are now off the market, and Bieska may be off the market, too. The Capitals may have to focus inside the team for answers, rather than outside.
