Ryan Callahan Questionable vs. Islanders After Missing 3rd Period Yesterday

March 22nd, 2010 by Broadway Hockey Daily Leave a reply »
Ryan Callahan left yesterday’s game late in the second period of the Rangers 2-1 loss to the Boston Bruins as a result of colliding with a veritable truck: Zdeno Chara. He didn’t play at all in the third period and was expected to miss today’s practice.

“I don’t think it’s anything too serious,” Callahan said , “[Returning to the game] just wasn’t happening. If there was a chance I’d be in there for sure.”

The Rangers are essentially eliminated from the playoffs right now unless they win eight out of their next 10 games, so Callahan’s return isn’t exactly necessary.

However, they are not technically eliminated and they are facing off against the Islanders  (their rivals) Wednesday night so don't be surprised if Callahan is pretty aggressive in trying to play.
