One name that is currently under the radar after being waived by the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday is T.J. Hensick.

Hours after being waived by the Avalanche, Hensick’s name has become a popular topic amongst hockey message boards.

One team that should take a shot at claiming Hensick off waivers are the Phoenix Coyotes.

Think about it for a second. The Coyotes have a successful history when it comes to signing players off waivers. Last month the Coyotes claimed Paul Bissonnette off waivers from the Pittsburgh Penguins after he failed to make the Penguins roster. Bissonnette has taken over the duty of enforcer for the Coyotes as his popularity in Phoenix has soared.

Perhaps the most successful waiver pick up by the  Coyotes was back in the 07-08 season when the Coyotes claimed Ilya Bryzgalov off waivers from Anaheim. Bryzgalov has since become the face of the Coyotes organization as his three shutouts has him tied for first place amongst goaltenders Tomas Vokoum (Florida) and Tim Thomas (Boston).
