Reigning NHL Champion LA Kings Visit President Obama at the White House

A pair of Los Angeles champions invaded Washington D.C. on Tuesday, as the Stanley Cup-winning Kings and the MLS Cup-winning Galaxy visited President Barack Obama at the White House. 

The Kings presented the President with his very own No. 44 Kings uniform. The Kings' official Twitter account tweeted out a picture of Obama with his new jersey:



Sean Leahy of Puck Daddy also snapped a shot of the Commander in Chief with his commemorative sweater:



The President—a well-known fan of Chicago sports—even managed to mention the Chicago Blackhawks in the ceremony, joking with head coach Darryl Sutter about his time as a player for the team (via PHWA member John Hoven):



Perhaps the two will have a later conversation about the Keystone XL pipeline. Wouldn't that be fun?

 The Kings pulled off one of the most surprising runs to the Stanley Cup in years, overcoming a No. 8 seed in the Western Conference to become the champions of the NHL. It was the first championship in the organization's 45-year history, and an absolutely dominant run to the Cup.
