Tyler Johnson scored two goals, including one on the power play, to lift the Tampa Bay Lightning to a 5-1 home win over the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday afternoon at the Amelie Arena.

The win evened their best-of-seven series at one game apiece as the action shifts to Detroit for a critical Game 3 Tuesday night.

Johnson and the Lightning came out buzzing in the first period, apparently suffering no ill effects from a tough loss in a game they dominated on Thursday night. The 24-year-old forward netted a power-play goal just over three minutes into the game to set the tone.

Detroit had its opportunities early but failed to capitalize, going 0-for-2 on the power play in the period and 0-for-4 in the game.

Alex Killorn doubled the lead on a tremendous second-effort goal just under eight minutes into the second period, forcing the puck under the leg of a sprawling Petr Mrazek near the goalpost.

Andrej Sustr’s first goal of the season came just seven minutes later into a wide-open net, and Johnson punctuated the second by beating Mrazek on a breakaway in the closing seconds.
