The Detroit Red Wings have re-signed center Justin Abdelkader, Detroit's second round pick at the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, to a two year contract. Financial terms of the contract have not been released yet.

A young, solid two-way player, Abdelkader scored his first career goal in Game 1 of the 2009 Stanley Cup Finals. Playing only 50 games last season due to a lack of available roster spots, Abdelkader still finished third on the team with 152 hits. Abdelkader also played 33 games in Grand Rapids, Detroit's AHL affiliate, tallying 11 goals, 24 points, and 86 penalty minutes.
