While stopping 33 of the 35 shots that he faced in the Detroit Red Wings' 3-2 triumph over the Boston Bruins on Wednesday, Jimmy Howard notched his 150th career NHL victory, per the team's official website.
In doing so, Howard—who has appeared in 282 NHL regular-season contests to date—became the 108th goalie in league history to hit the milestone.
Howard—who has spent his entire pro career with the Detroit organization—is currently 21st among active NHL goalies in the win category, with plenty more likely to come, given that the 2003 second-round draft pick just turned 30 years of age March 26.
Entering Wednesday's contest, the Bruins—who still top the NHL standings board with 110 points—had compiled a 15-0-1 mark in their past 16 games, with Howard's 150th win thus arriving in upset fashion.
The victory was a huge one for the Red Wings, who are battling for playoff seeding as the NHL's regular season winds down. Moreover, it was accomplished without the services of key forwards Henrik Zetterberg, Pavel Datsyuk and Daniel Alfredsson.
