New York 4, Washington 3 (Series Tied at 3-3) 

The New York Rangers forced Game 7 on Sunday night with a 4-3 victory over the Washington Capitals in Game 6 of their Eastern Conference semifinal series. 

New York took a two-goal lead into the first intermission after Chris Kreider beat Braden Holtby twice in the first period. The first from Kreider came 40 seconds into the game, while his second barely beat the buzzer. 

Jason Chimera pulled one back for the host Capitals 28 seconds into the second period, but the Rangers delivered the perfect answer in the form of two more goals. 

Evgeny Kuznetsov started the Washington comeback just under eight minutes into the third. Washington came within one halfway through the third, when Joel Ward poked a rebound past Henrik Lundqvist. 

Despite a barrage of pressure on the New York goal over the final 10 minutes of the contest, the Capitals were unable to put a fourth puck past Lundqvist. 

Lundqvist made 42 saves during the frantic Game 6, while Holtby only faced four shots in the second and third periods.
