Rangers Keeping Faith but Truth Is Bleak

Speaking with reporters yesterday, Rangers captain Chris Drury and veteran forward Vinny Prospal were talking optimistically about this season, but in reality the Rangers are all but eliminated.

“We’re in no position to be moping around or still (ticked) off about something that happened yesterday; we just have to do everything we can to get ready for the Islanders,” said Chris Drury. “That’s it, end of story.”

“It’s a new day,” said Vinny Prospal. “We still have 10 games to go, we have to get ready for another game, and that game is Wednesday night and then we play again on Thursday. So we have to just come here, just like we did today, and work on certain things. Yesterday our power play was not good, so we worked on it today. That’s how we prepare for the next game—try to win the next game.”

The truth is that even when the Rangers were playing at their highest level this season, back in October, they only managed to win seven out of 10 games at best, and they’d probably have to do better than that to make the playoffs.
