Rangers Coach John Tortorella Discusses Media ‘Idiots’ with NBC’s Bob Costas

New York Rangers head coach John Tortorella has always been known for his colorful, and often aggressive demeanor during post-game press conferences.

Nobody is off limits, from referees to the occasional reporter who asks a question Tortorella deems unworthy of an answer.

In an interview with NBC's Bob Costas, which aired Monday on Costas Tonight, Tortorella explains some of his actions while keeping a cutting tone towards media members who he feels have different goals than his.

"I'm not saying I did it the right way," said Tortorella in reference to his press conference style. He said:

I'm not looking to disrespect people, but I also have a tough time answering questions that really they have the answer to. It's to fill their blogs, to fill their 'tweeters' or whatever you wanna call that stuff, the Twitter accounts. I'm not too interested in the social media. I'm wrapped up in the hockey club at that time. That's my only focus.
