Ahh, the Battle of Ontario. One of the greatest rivalries in all of hockey. Residing in the same division, the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Ottawa Senators play a lot against each other every NHL season. That’s normal, but they don’t just have to share a division: they have to share a province too. The hate shared between the two teams is enough to fill all of Ontario, twice. War takes place in every game the two teams play against each other. Whether it’s a solid hit, missed penalty or cheap shot, the two Canadian teams always find a reason to mix it up. Not only are Leafs-Sens games tough, they are also well played and entertaining. The hard-nosed yet skillful style of hockey usually results in a high scoring bout, and usually a broken bone or two. The Battle of Ontario has had many memorable moments, from the Sundin stick-throw moment and flu-game to the Chara-McCabe fight. Some even remember when Mark Bell obliterated Daniel Alfredsson. Bottom line is, the Leafs and the Senators have had some interesting times. This season’s battle is sure to be just as entertaining as ever.
