Philadelphia Flyers: It’s Just a Case of Cleaning Up After Yourself

What did the rest of the Flyers season and their game on Tuesday night have in common? Not much.

BUT, there was a certain aspect of that game that got me pretty excited.

The Flyers were cleaning up the trash in front of the net. It reminded me of D3: The Mighty Ducks when Coach Orion had all of the players pick up the garbage on the ice. 

Anyway, back to writing…

Sergei Bobrovsky has trouble handling rebounds—no doubt about it, not denying it.

The one thing that allowed him to be so successful was the ability of the other players to clear those rebounds out quickly. During the four-game losing streak, we didn’t see any of that. 

But Tuesday night, we saw plenty of it. Of course, there were some bad turnovers and a lot of offensive coasting, but the team as a whole tied up loose ends before anything tragic could happen.

If the team can keep consistent pressure for 60 minutes, take care of the puck and clean up the garbage in the offensive zone, everything will (hopefully) return to normalcy.
