Philadelphia Flyers Agree To Multi-Year Deal With Michael Leighton

On Wednesday afternoon, the Philadelphia Flyers announced that Michael Leighton had agreed to terms of a multi-year contract with the team.

The deal will keep Michael in Philadelphia until the end of the 2011-2012 season.

The Flyers were openly pursuing every option at goaltender throughout this offseason and it is believed that Leighton will be the only goalie the team will sign. Most experts agree that Leighton will now take over the starting role while fellow journeyman, Brian Boucher, will serve as the backup.

In Leighton's interview with PhiladelphiaFlyers.com, Michael said, "I'm very excited for the opportunity to come back to the Flyers organization for two more years. It was my intention all along."

Leighton also went on to say, "My expectation for next year is to definitely improve. You can always improve. I definitely want things to go for me as well as it did during the regular season and in the playoffs last season. For me, as a goalie, you always want to improve".
