Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane is being investigated by police for the alleged sexual assault of a woman in the Buffalo suburb of Hamburg on Aug. 2, as first reported by Tim Graham, Dan Herbeck and Lou Michel of the Buffalo News. According to John Wawrow of the Associated Press (h/t Edmonton Journal), the woman is believed to be in her 20s.

Blackhawks Owner Comments on Kane Investigation Monday, Aug. 10 "We're disappointed but hopeful," Chicago Blackhawks owner Rocky Wirtz told the Chicago Tribune, per Josh Gold-Smith of TheScore.com. "Beyond that, it would not be appropriate to expound upon."

Wirtz's comments are in line with the team statement released on Aug. 6, per Mark Lazerus of the Chicago Sun-Times: "We are aware of the matter and are in the process of gathering information. It would be inappropriate to comment further."
