Patrick Kane Injury: Updates on Blackhawks Star’s Upper Body and Return

Chicago Blackhawks right winger Patrick Kane will not return to Tuesday night's game against the Florida Panthers after suffering an upper-body injury in the first period.





The Blackhawks offered more on Kane's status after the game:

Kane, 26, went down after being hit with a cross-check by Florida defender Alex Petrovic, who drew a two-minute penalty for the infraction. Kane went to the Blackhawks locker room to be attended to by trainers but was later ruled out.

The severity of Kane's injury is unclear at this time, but it'll be a major blow for Chicago if he goes down for an extended period. The All-Star winger had an NHL-high 64 points coming into Tuesday, scoring 27 goals and adding 37 assists. Those numbers put him on pace to approach his career-high points total (88) and perhaps enter his name into the Hart Trophy conversation.

"No, times have changed for sure," Kane told Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune. "It's totally different than where I used to be. I always loved the game and I always tried to do my best but the preparation is just at a different level now."
