Panthers’ Jaromir Jagr Decides to Cut out His 10 Daily Cups of Coffee for Lent

When it comes to giving up things for Lent, everyone is different.

Some do things as silly as staying off their social media accounts. Others decide not to eat or drink certain things. As for Florida Panthers veteran Jaromir Jagr, he is removing some caffeine from his life for the second year in a row.

Last year, it was a soda. This year, it's coffee. 

While it may be tough for even a casual coffee drinker to give up the drink, it may be even tougher for the 44-year-old Panther. According to Tom Perrotta of the Wall Street Journal, Jagr is used to downing lots of coffee on a daily basis:

When Jagr gave up Diet Coke last year—“I drank it every day, I would have five a day at least,” he said—he tried it again after Easter. He hated the taste so much that he had to mix the soda with water, and then he gave it up altogether. This year he has quit coffee.

“I was drinking 10 a day,” he said. “I felt awful the first few days, I felt like I had no energy at all. I was playing games I didn’t even know I played, the first few games. But then the body got used ...
