Osgood’s Situation: Can a Playoff Goalie Win During the Season?

Chris Osgood has admitted that he hasn't played his best hockey this year. In fact, there was an article in SI that talked about this being the worst year of his career.

Needless to say, Red Wings fans have started to question our goalie, and have started to put games in the hands of Jimmy Howard. That hasn't been working out either.

Most people would agree that goaltending is the reason the Detroit Red Wings are having such a bad year. Part of the reason is consistency, we'll see them let in only one goal one night, and then two nights later see a ton of pucks go past them.

It's frustrating as a fan to see both Howard and Osgood let in soft goals and lose the game. It's also frustrating when the offense is fighting to stay in the game and the puck keeps getting in our net.

Let's face it, Osgood is a goalie that thrives in the play-offs. His run for the last two years supports that.

However, that's not enough for Wings' fans this year. We need a solid goalie right now. We can't wait until the end of the season, we need one right now.
