As the third period got under way, the rain, which was supposed to last only minutes continued to fall, making the ice sloppy.

The NHL decided to switch sides at the 10:00 mark of the third period.

Two minutes after the switch Eric Fehr added his second goal of the night with a breakaway.

Fehr entered the game with five goals and left with seven in what was, without a doubt, his best game of the season.

Ovechkin looked to have a goal later in the period, but it was correctly waved off as he had run into and help Fleury up seconds before putting the puck in the net.

The Caps took the game 3-1 and there were no handshakes at the end of this one.
