The NHL Winter Classic 2011 is going to be played today!

That's right, there's more than just college football bowl games on New Year's Day.

They've been doing the Classic since 2008, and this year it features the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Washington Capitals duking it out at Heinz Field, home of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

As you well know, what makes the Classic different from your average NHL game is the fact that it's played outdoors.

Thanks to weather concerns, this has already caused a minor issue this year, as the NHL was forced to delay the start of today's game until nighttime. We'll bring you everything you need to know in that regard.

Of course, the matchup between the Penguins and Capitals also has its share of story lines, as both teams are among the top five teams in the Eastern Conference. We'll break each of them down from every which way.

The Classic doesn't start for another eight hours or so. Until then, keep it here and we'll keep you posted with everything you need to know.

Happy New Year!
