It is still rather early in the 2013-14 NHL campaign, but the trade rumor mill is nevertheless swirling with speculation regarding some of hockey's most storied franchises.

The Colorado Avalanche and Toronto Maple Leafs headline the latest buzz. Both are clinging to playoff spots in their respective conferences and are in search of a spark to vault them into more prominent Stanley Cup contention in the second half of the season.
