NHL Trade Rumors: Last-Minute Buzz on Sabres, Red Wings and More

It's the 11th hour of Monday's NHL trade deadline, and at this point in the action, much of the buzz concerns the inertia of potential last-minute deals.

The cellar-dwelling Buffalo Sabres are in fire-sale mode for the second season in a row, while the Detroit Red Wings have already had a busy afternoon ahead of the 3 p.m. ET deadline.

A marquee member of the Chicago Blackhawks was thought to be on the block as well. It appears that won't be the case any longer.

Red Wings in on Zidlicky, Miss out on Phaneuf Seeking Defensive Help



Having already acquired left winger Erik Cole from Dallas, per Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press, MLive.com's Ansar Khan reported that all could be quiet on the trade front for Detroit on Monday:



But if the Red Wings were to execute a deal before the buzzer, Khan expected it to be for a blue-liner. Toronto Maple Leafs captain Dion Phaneuf and New Jersey Devils defenseman Marek Zidlicky were believed to be in play:
