NHL Trade Deadline: A Look at Past Deals From 2005-2010

There are 16 days until the National Hockey League deadline for trades occurs.

On February 28th, at 3pm eastern standard time, the trade period for the 2010-11 season will end.

With a little more than a month and a half remaining on the NHL schedule, newly acquired players used this time time to adjust to their new surroundings.

Of the 30 NHL teams, only 16 will move on beyond the regular season as one of pro sports toughest play downs will occur— the Stanley Cup play-offs.

The Stanley Cup play-offs are considered one of the most physically and mentally demanding processes in sport where teams play games virtually ever other day for almost two months. The impact on players and coaches are monumental as they all deal with the "pecks and valleys" of entering another season of play.

It has been referred to as the "second season".

For each of the 30 NHL teams the trade deadline means vastly different things.

There will be "buyers" and "sellers", there will be "salary dumpers" and there will be "teams looking into the future...".

Nevertheless, this deadline has become a major part of any teams ...
